I’m friends with Oprah. By friends, I mean I watch Super Soul Sunday. And once I watch Super Soul Sunday, I binge on whatever comes on next from Iyanla to Lisa Ling. What I admire most about Oprah is her constant quest to help people become the best they can be. We are responsible for ourselves, but Oprah provides a ceaseless parade of individuals to help us. So when the opportunity to join the meditation series with Oprah & Deepak, I signed up.
Not sure what I thought was going to come to my inbox, but I figured it was coming from Oprah so I couldn’t loose. The first day’s message was, “Happiness is my true nature.”This brought me back to my one of my core beliefs…you are in charge of your own happiness. Yes, you are.All you need to do is look inside of you.
Choosing happiness is the easy part. The challenge can be the upkeep. Take time with every day to be thankful for the things in your life. As you practice being thankful and choosing happiness you will find that it becomes a natural response. You know, practice makes perfect.
This leads me to telling you that happiness in college is possible. Happiness is not getting your way. Happiness is not everything falling into place like the dream in your head. Unfortunately, you will not get to control everything .So choosing happiness is vital.
The initial euphoria of arriving at college will wear away and leave you feeling overwhelmed. Don’t worry, you are not alone. This is where sorority steps in. You have a pledge class full of women having the same experience as you. The collegiate sorority experience is designed to provide support during these years. Use this to your benefit.
College is too exciting to not be happy!
